Architect Laura Jane Clark on writing her non-fiction book, The Handbook of Home Design
Finding the perfect title, having the right team around you, and getting organised
In this episode of the Creatives of Habit podcast, I’m talking to architect and designer Laura Jane Clark who you might recognise from BBC’s Your Home Made Perfect, which I am a big fan of.
Laura’s first book, which is called The Handbook of Home Design: An Architect’s Blueprint for Shaping your Home, will be published on the 23rd March 2023.
In this interview I talk to Laura about her book and writing process.
We discuss
·      How moving her architecture business online during covid sparked the idea for the book
·      How Laura found her agent and publisher and how having the right team was essential for achieving her visionÂ
·      We also talk about her writing practice, the importance of getting organised and the challenge of finding the perfect title
·      And you’ll also find out about some of Laura’s favourite rituals and ways to procrastinate.Â
Laura was great fun to speak to and her passion for home design, which is what her book is all about, really came through, so I hope you enjoy it. You can listen to it on the usual podcast platforms, including Spotify.
